Brief Report for 2005 New York Conference

2005 International Conference on Global Entrepreneurship

Dear CASB Members and Friends,

Our 2005 International Conference “Global Entrepreneurship: Economic Development for Asia and the U.S.” held on May 6, 2005, was a great success.

Mr. Cheng Siwei, the Vice Chairman of National People’s Congress of China presented a keynote speech: China and the world, in the context of economic globalization at our conference. In his speech, Mr. Cheng mentioned that in order to cope with the economic globalization, China needs the world, and the world also needs China. China must understand the world, and the world also must understand China as a country with a fast growth rate, great potential, dual economic structure and in transition from traditional central planning system to socialist market system. China should cooperate with the world, and the world also should cooperate with China in order to create mutual benefits and get win-win results. Afterwards, Mr. Cheng Si Wei also held a press conference. The media press and newspapers all gave the high comments on this conference.

This conference brought together leaders and elites from government, business, academia, and local Asian American communities to discuss the multidimensional issues involved in global entrepreneurship. The outstanding speakers also included Samuel Mok, Chief Financial Officer, U.S. Department of Labor, Matthew Goldstein, Chancellor of City University of New York, Betty Wu, Chair of the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

More than 200 people attended our meeting. Attendees were very pleased with the success of the conference. Over 10 reporters from different media reported the conference and Mr. Cheng’s speech and press conference. Some links of the reports are included:
