Dear friends,
I am back from China now. The China trip was an exciting trip.
From March 2 to 12, I was in Beijing to participate in the CPPCC National meeting.
It was a great honor to be invited as a non-voting overseas representative to participate in the Third Session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Our CASB suggestion book attracted great attention. The book was printed on March 2, the day I arrived in Beijing, and Dr. Zhang Binlong brought them all the way from Shenzhen for our first meeting in Beijing in the same day. It has been presented to Premier Wen and other important leaders, including Wang Zhongyu (the first Vice Chairman of CPPCC), Luo Haochai(Vice Chairman of CPPCC), Cheng Siwei (Vice Chairman of National Peoples Congress), Chen Yuejie (Minister of GuoQiaoBan), Cheng Jinpei (Deputy Minister of S&T ministry). I had some in deep discussion about our suggestions of Chinas role in Genome projects with Prof. Qian Boqing and Prof. Chen Zhu, the Vice President of Chinese Science Academy. I have also met Secretary Cheng Donghong and Feng Changgen of Chinese Association S&T to discuss our suggestions and possible cooperation. You may also check the following links for some news reports about our suggestions.

It was a great experience for me to understand the Chinese style democracy. It is quite different than the west style democracy, and is interesting to learn it. CPPCC is a good way to collect difference opinions from different groups.
I also met many important and interesting new friends in the meeting. I guessed some of you saw our performance in the Chinese Central TV. It was fun too. I will show you more stories in the future.
I also met our partners and some old friends in Beijing.
I went to Shenzhen after the Beijing meeting on 3/13, and met some potential partners, government leaders, and had a board meeting. From 3/15 to 3/17 I was in Guangzhou, and met my old friends, and discussed possible cooperation in the safety projects, and biotech projects. I was in Shanghai from 3/17 to 20 to discuss possible cooperation on generic drug projects, I-banking projects and education projects. If any of you are interested in those projects and in our suggestions, please contact us.
Best regards,
Daxi
