The 1/26 dinner party is a special dinner meeting. The distinguished diplomatic guests include Ambassador Liu Biwei, Science-Technology Counselor Li Wu Qiang, Education
Counselor Ai Fanglin, Consuls Qiao Fenghe, Chen Suoyi, Li Xinhua and Canadian Consul Alan Menz. Chancellor David Chang, Professor N.P. Chang, Professor Xunming Deng and many important figures in investment fields, such as John Alan, Laurence Levine, Zhang Liyong, James Liu, Kevin Wu and John Liu, attended the dinner party.
I presented a review about what we did last year, and discussed what we will do in the future.
In the meeting A CASB International Science and Culture Exchange Award was presented to Dr. David Chang, the Chancellor of New York Polytechnic University, for his important contributions to US-China education cooperation and his great supports to CASB since the first CAS conference in 1997 held in Polytechnic University. Dr. Chang is one of the most famous educators in US and is one of the most important advisors to CASB.
A special Outstanding Research Award was presented to Dr. Xunming Deng for his achievement in solar energy technology research and development, Dr. Xunming Deng is also a CUSPEA student of 1984. He received his Ph.D. from Chicago University, and is a distinguished professor of University of Toledo, Ohio. He is holding some world records of efficiency of solar energy cell, and his new technologies may change the structure of solar energy industry. Besides the research funding of over $10 millions, his company received an award of $2.9 million from the Secretary of Energy to industrialize his new technologies.
Outstanding Service Awards were presented to Mr. Bin Wang, Mr. Larry Wu and Mr. John Liang for their contributions to CASB. All of them are the Directors of Board of CASB, and all are the founding members of CASB. In last 9 years they devoted great efforts and time for the success of CASB.
2005 was an important year for CASB. As a representative of CASB. As the Chairman of CASB, I was invited to participate in China’s National CPPCC(Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) meeting in March, it was a great honor to CASB. In Feb. 2005, over 20 important experts from CASB completed a CASB suggestion book to China’s 11th 5-year’s plan; the book was presented to China’s central government and received very positive responses.
We had a very successful international conference of Economic Development for Asia and US on May 6, 2005 in New York. Vice Chairman Cheng Siwei of China’s National People’s Congress presented an exciting keynote speech.

In the meeting, Lisa Tan introduced a CASB new plan to have a network gathering on every third Thursday of each month. The first gathering will be on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006. We will send more email for more detailed information.
Mr. Zhang Liyong, the President of China General Chamber of Commerce—USA, announced the CHINA-US BUSINESS FORUM will be held in the People’s Great Hall, Beijing, February 14-15, 2006.
